This is a promotional page. Silverschade is not an air operator — bookings and prices are handled by Air Charter Service.

Regulatory Information

Which regulators matter in UK helicopter charter, what they cover, and where Silverschade Ltd sits in that picture.

1. Our own regulatory position

Silverschade Ltd is an advertising publisher registered in England and Wales (company number 14827366). We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as a data controller and we follow the CAP Code, enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority.

We hold no aviation approvals: no Air Operator Certificate, no ATOL, no CAA broker or agency permission, and no Financial Conduct Authority authorisation. We neither sell nor arrange flights, and we hold no client money.

2. Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)

Commercial passenger helicopter flights in the UK must be operated by the holder of an Air Operator Certificate issued by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, under the UK-retained Air Operations Regulation (EU 965/2012) and the Air Navigation Order 2016. The AOC covers pilot licensing and recency, crew flight-time limitations, aircraft maintenance programmes, operations manuals and safety management.

You are entitled to ask any operator for its AOC number before you book, and a legitimate operator will provide it. Operator details can be checked with the CAA at caa.co.uk.

3. Aircraft airworthiness and registration

UK-registered aircraft carry a G-prefixed registration and must hold a valid Certificate of Airworthiness and an Airworthiness Review Certificate. Maintenance is carried out by approved organisations to a CAA-accepted programme.

4. ATOL and package travel

A standalone domestic helicopter flight is generally not an ATOL- protected arrangement. ATOL protection applies where a flight forms part of a package with accommodation or other travel services sold by an ATOL holder. If your booking combines a flight with accommodation or another significant travel service, ask the seller in writing whether the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 and ATOL apply, and request the certificate.

5. Insurance

Commercial operators must hold third-party and passenger liability insurance meeting the minimum levels set by the UK-retained Insurance Requirements Regulation (EC 785/2004). Personal travel insurance does not always cover charter flights or aerial activity — check your policy wording before flying.

6. Consumer protection

Bookings made with UK providers are covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 and, for distance sales, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 — subject to the dated-services exemption explained on our Cancellation Rights page.

7. Advertising and data regulation

  • Advertising Standards Authority — CAP Code compliance.
  • Information Commissioner's Office — UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR compliance.
  • Competition and Markets Authority — guidance on affiliate disclosure and online choice architecture, which we apply to every advertising label on this site.

8. Reporting a regulatory concern

Safety concerns about a specific flight or operator should go to the CAA. Concerns about our advertising should go to us first at [email protected] — see our Complaints Handling Policy — and thereafter to the ASA.
